We honor Lucy Meyer during National Volunteer Month.  Lucy devoted over 38 years to the town of Kinnelon.  Among her many accomplishments, Lucy Meyer initiated efforts to create the Pyramid Mountain National Historic Area working with state, county, local municipalities and committees preserving this pristine land.  The former engineer also wrote a comprehensive Resource Inventory of native plants, forests and wetlands of the area.

In 1976, Lucy published the only book to date on the history of our town, Kinnelon: A History Where the Future is Enriched by the Past.   She served as Kinnelon’s town historian until 2010. Lucy Meyer devoted countless hours serving on Kinnelon Open Space and Historical Preservation Commissions as well as many other local volunteer efforts.

L’Ecole, the Kinnelon Museum contains extensive archives detailing her work, particularly the preservation and creation of the Pyramid Mountain National Historic Area.
